IT ALL STARTED WITH THE TRILOGY

When Ms. Vivian decided to open her own baton and dance studio, she needed an assistant baton instructor.  Thankfully, she ran into Ms. Janet (a former student and family friend) while shopping at the mall.  Thus began the greatest "Trilogy" of all time!  Ms. Vivian being the "Queen of Cute", Ms. Janet being the "Master at multiple baton", and Ms. Kara being the "One with the dance moves" all brought the strongest elements of a baton team.  The three worked perfectly together and loved every minute of coaching as a team.  After almost 20 years in Upper Marlboro, Ms. Vivian decided to retire but couldn't sit still for long.

The start of something new

A FREE BATON PROGRAM AND POSITIVE PLACE FOR EVERYONE

Realizing that something new was needed in Calvert County, Ms. Kara and Ms. Vivian decided to team up with Calvert County Parks and Recreation to bring something exciting to town and of course baton would be the choice!  All three coaches teamed up to put together a new team name, new curriculum based on fun twirling, a positive environment, and a safe space for kids.  Since Ms. Janet lived so far away, it was decided that Ms. Jessica would be promoted from student to new coach!  August, 2013, Trilogy Twirl Club made is debut and the rest is twirling history.

Thank you CCPR!

In the first meeting with Parks and Rec, we asked how much they charge for the gym and their response was "well, how much do you charge to teach?"  We let them know that we planned to volunteer (since we normally do) to help off set the cost for the families, they responded with "welp, then we won't charge you for the gym!"  That, my friends, was the start to a beautiful friendship.  Thanks to CCPR we are able to twirl in a beautiful, clean space and never have to charge a dime.

WE WEAR PURPLE FOR MS. JANET

The legacy Ms. Janet left behind
In April 2015, at the young age of 37, Janet lost her extremely brave battle with cancer after only 9 months.  Had it not been for a chance run in at the mall, the world would have never know the amazingness of our trio or the "trilogy". So many young lives would have missed out on Janet's love, encouragement, and strength. That chance run in gave Ms. Kara the sister she never had, a bonus daughter for Ms. Vivian, and the perfect mentor for Ms. Jessica. Janet was that piece to the family puzzle that we didn't know we needed until we had her there. The pain in our hearts will always be there and there will always be that missing piece of the "trilogy triangle".  Lavender was the color of Janet's cancer ribbon so we changed our colors from pink to lavender so that we always remember her legacy.

"How can we not talk about family when family's all that we got...

It's been a long day, without you my friend and I'll tell you all about it when I see you again"
